Following a recent free training event organised by South Somerset District Council, two newly trained volunteers are leading the way in Yeovil. The fully booked health walk leader training event gave volunteers all the information they needed to lead a safe and successful walk including advice on route planning, risk assessments, first aid and the benefits of exercise. One of the newly trained volunteers, David Weale, said “I volunteered because the benefits of walking are numerous, including better health, socialisation, fresh air and being out in the countryside.” Full story: Read more
Free Support Day for Shepton Businesses
A free drop in event offering support and advice for small businesses is being held in Shepton Mallet next month. The Shepton Mallet Small Business Support Drop-in Day, taking place on Thursday 9 July, is a completely free support and information day for small businesses, organised as by Shepton Chamber as part of the Enterprise Mendip programme. Somerset youth make their own teenage ‘Wolf Hall’
The Youth Cinema Foundation have two short films made with Somerset youth premiering on June 26th 2015 at Art Gallery, Hauser & Wirth, Somerset. Teenagers star in the films with young filmmakers helping create them. One of the films is called ‘Shaftesbury’s End’ a costume drama which was shot at Cothay Manor, near Wellington, the location of TV series ‘Wolf Hall’. The other film is called ‘Exposure’ and tells the story of a school minibus trip which will change the group forever. Full story: Read more
