The Shepton Mallet Small Business Support Drop-in Day, taking place on Thursday 9 July, is a completely free support and information day for small businesses, organised as by Shepton Chamber as part of the Enterprise Mendip programme. This event follows on from the success of the Glastonbury Small Business Support Day held earlier in the year at the Red Brick Building.
The day will feature a range of small business talks and drop in information sessions, designed to support and advise small and start-up businesses on a variety of subjects including:
- Social media
- Marketing and PR
- Business planning
- Bookkeeping, tax and payroll
- Employment law
- Business rates
- Web design
Business mentors will be offering information and free advice through informal 1-2-1 drop in sessions running all day alongside a series of more focused and in depth talks on topics such as sales, marketing and planning. The talks will take place at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.
Alan Stone, from Shepton Chamber said: “This is a great opportunity for small and new business owners to come along and gain knowledge and skills that will further benefit their business. The support on offer will come from local industry experts and may just start you off on the road to success.”
Cllr John Parham, Economic Development Portfolio Holder said, “Enterprise Mendip is a partnership programme between the local Chambers of Commerce, Mendip District Council and Strode College. By working with the Chambers it allows us to provide advice and support to those who are just starting out or planning to expand, and to show them that Mendip is a great place to start and grow a business.”
Although drop ins are welcome, anyone thinking of attending is encouraged to pre-book to ensure spaces are available and avoid disappointment.
The event is taking place on Thursday 9 July from 10am – 3pm at Paul Street Community Centre, Shepton Mallet. To pre-book your free ticket or for more information visit https://sbsdshepton.eventbrite.co.uk or email [email protected]
