Angling reopens at Chard Reservoir

South Somerset District Council and Chard Angling Club are delighted to be welcoming anglers back to Chard Reservoir Local Nature Reserve from Monday 17 October. The angling at Chard Reservoir has been closed since mid-June due to the deaths of a number of mid-sized carp and some coarse fish. Holyrood Academy gets free solar PV system after hair-raising last minute agreement

South Somerset Community Energy and Holyrood Academy are delighted to announce that they have signed an agreement for a free solar photovoltaic (PV) system that will save the school an estimated £6,000 a year. The installation is well under way and will be completed and commissioned by the end of this month. Somerset lady wins at The Great Dorset Steam Fair

Last week at The Great Dorset Steam Fair, one of the biggest events in Europe and as seen on BBC One’s Countryfile by 6.7 million viewers, Jackie Nicholls from Ashville Design, near Chard in Somerset, who was exhibiting in the Rural Craft Marquee won an award with her artificial flower arrangements for “The Most Colourful and Artistic Craft Display”.
