Cash to help farmers hit by Somerset Levels flooding get business and nature back on track | This is Somerset

Farmers recovering from the devastating effects of last year’s floods on Somerset’s Levels and Moors will get £300,000 in aid from the European Union and match-funding from the UK to help put their businesses, and nature, back on track. Somerset County Council has won the European funding for the Value of Working Wetlands project. It will see £600,000 spent in the county to help restore grasslands ruined after months under water. Omega and Alpha set for world premiere at Wells Cathedral | This is Somerset

A Castle Cary composer is preparing for “the proudest moment of his career” when his musical masterpiece is unveiled to the world on Saturday. Martin Emslie, 57, of Alford has written an 80-minute composition telling the Biblical Easter story, culminating in Jesus’s resurrection. His oratorio, Omega and Alpha, will be performed at Wells Cathedral featuring a 46-piece orchestra, 120 local singers and three professional soloists. Full Story: Read More
