Arabella Sprot Quartet.pngOn Saturday 9th November, Sherborne Jazz Club will host ASQ ~ The Arabella Sprot Quintet at the Plume of Feathers, Half Moon street, Sherbone, DT9 3LN. In 2012 Arabella was awarded both an Entry Scholarship to Birmingham Conservatoire and a Postgraduate Performance Award from the Musicians Benevolent Fund to study for a Masters in Jazz Performance. This gig presents the fruits of that labour, with a new line-up, new compositions, and new arrangements ranging from solo saxophone to suites inspired by literature. The quintet features Arabella on tenor saxophone, Ric Yarborough on Drums, James Banner on bass, Steve Tromans on Piano and Nick Dewhurst on trumpet. Doors open 7.30pm. New sponsorship for Sherborne Jazz Club!

Club chair Paul Chousmer took receipt of the PRSF and Jazz Services Jazz Promoters Award last month, given “in recognition of the panel being impressed by your diverse programme containing exciting new music”.
