Over 1,000 trees planted over the winter months at Yeovil Country Park

Tree Planting 2The countryside rangers and volunteers at South Somerset District Council’s Yeovil Country Park have been busy planting trees this winter. In total, over 1,000 trees have been planted in the Ninesprings area of the Country Park since November 2015. The vast majority of these were free, with the Friends of Yeovil Country Park securing free tree packs from the Woodland Trust and The Conservation Volunteers. Full story: Read more

Five star award for Yeovil Country Park

FOYCP at fayreThe Friends of Yeovil Country Park are celebrating after it was announced that the Country Park has achieved a five star award from this year’s Britain in Bloom judging. It has been a busy two years down at South Somerset District Council’s Yeovil Country Park. The construction of the new Centre and the awarding of the Heritage Lottery Grant bringing forward new events, activities and interpretation for the site at Ninesprings and the wider Country Park land being particular highlights. Free microchipping events for dogs in preparation of new legislation

Dogs Trust Event 3 - 20 02 15South Somerset District Council’s (SSDC) Enforcement Officers are offering free microchipping to all dog owners at two Country Park sites across South Somerset in preparation for a new legislation that is set to be introduced. The Microchip of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015 will require all dogs to be microchipped by 6th April 2016 or face a possible fine of £500.
