A nomis report from the Office for National Statistics shows that just 1.0% of all people under pensionable age who are available for, and actively seeking work are claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance*. The figure of 1.0% is a record low for South Somerset and is much better than the South West average of 1.5% and is also well under half the national average of 2.4%. Appeal for kitten owner to come forward
A lost little black kitten got the ride of its life when it was found under the wheel-arch of a council vehicle that travelled from Yeovil to Bruton! The kitten was believed to have boarded the vehicle at South Somerset District Council’s Lufton Depot on Artillery Road in Yeovil, where staff got a shock when they arrived in Bruton and discovered their extra passenger on Wednesday 16 July. South Somerset District Council’s new V3 Project Development Officer, Ewa Prokop, kicked off the V3 public consultation events on Saturday 7 June at Yeovil Town Library as part of National Volunteers Week. Since starting the role within the Countryside Team in May this year, Ewa has also been consulting with individual community groups and event attendees about their aspirations for Yeovil Country Park.
