Charity Distributes its 100,000th SchoolBag!

The Somerset-based charity, the Piers Simon Appeal, has reached a milestone through its main initiative, School in a Bag. This morning, the 100,000th SchoolBag has been distributed by their Nepalese charity partner, Helambu Education and Livelihood Partnership – a feat made especially exciting because it is during School in a Bag’s 10th anniversary year.  What a way to kick off 2019! Somerset Charity Reaches £1million in its 10th Anniversary Year!

£1million photoSchool in a Bag, the initiative run by the Piers Simon Appeal based in Chilthorne Domer near Yeovil, has reached its first £1 million milestone – in the charity’s 10th anniversary year. The Piers Simon Appeal (PSA) was set up in memory of Piers who sadly lost his life in the Indian Ocean Tsunami on Boxing Day in 2004, following a collection at his memorial, which raised £10,000. 19 Year Old Sets off Around the World…On a Unicycle!

School in a bagEd Pratt, a 19 year old from Curry Rivel in Somerset, sets off this Saturday for an epic journey around the world – on a unicycle. This has never been done before and is a planned 18-month trip covering some 18,000 miles. And he’s aiming to raise £7,500 for charity whilst he’s at it.
