Help for hedgehogs at Knoll Gardens
The declining UK hedgehog population was highlighted at a special Wild About Gardens event at Knoll Gardens near Wimborne recently as part of a Knoll Gardens Foundation initiative to explain how we can all share our gardens with wildlife. Visitors were able to handle hedgehogs and learn about these prickly creatures from Dorset Wildlife Trust officers, and get advice on ways to create suitable hedgehog habitats and ‘wildlife corridors’ to encourage hedgehogs into our gardens. How should we value nature? Conservationist Miles King at Knoll Gardens, Wed 23 Sept
UK-based conservationist Miles King will be asking ‘How should we value nature?’ on Wednesday 23 September at Knoll Gardens. Miles has worked in nature conservation for 29 years, leading conservation work for Plantlife, The Grasslands Trust and Buglife, as well as Wildlife Trusts, English Nature and Natural England. He recently set up a new charity ‘People Need Nature’, to promote the importance of nature for its spiritual and inspirational value as well as a source of mental and physical wellbeing.
