Butterflies are booming at Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens with sightings more than 60% up on the same time as last year. And, as well as counting 58 individual butterflies in a single survey, butterfly expert Keith Powrie has also recorded three new species in the garden, the Marbled White, Keeled Skimmer and White Admiral. More than 140 species of birds, bees, butterflies and bugs were recorded during Knoll Gardens Foundation annual Garden Wildlife Survey

More than 140 species of birds, bees, butterflies and bugs were recorded at the recent Knoll Gardens Foundation annual Garden Wildlife Survey. The annual survey is part of an ongoing programme of research to explore the relationship between garden plants and the wildlife that lives on and around them. RSPB flies into Knoll Gardens


The RSPB will be bringing its expertise and advice to Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens for a special Open Day on Friday 28 April. From 8am the RSPB will lead an early morning guided stroll. Timed to take place before the gardens open to the public, the tranquil surroundings provide the perfect setting to listen as Knoll’s many birds greet the new day with their song.
