Grants still available to reduce risk of flooding

Flood Grants.pngHome owners and businesses in Mendip who were directly affected by flooding last winter are being reminded they can still apply for a grant of up to £5,000 to help reduce the risk of flooding of their properties in the future. The Government-funded Repair and Renew Grant scheme can provide grants for additional flood resilience or flood resistance measures for homes and businesses that have been hit by the floods, over and above repairs that would normally be covered by insurance. Apply for flood grants now, pleads farming charity

Flood Grants.pngFarmers affected by flooding on the Somerset Levels must apply for government grants to restore their land before the £10m fund closes on 27 June. Ian Bell, director of the Addington Fund, which has been helping to co-ordinate the flood relief, said it was vitally important that farmers asked for help now. “There are very genuine farmers in real need, who are still reluctant to come and ask for help. My message is simple: farmers across the country are offering to help – there is no stigma; just please ask.” Full story: Read more
