Every year at Christmas each Red Berry Recruitment office chooses a charity to help raise awareness and ask for donations to support their cause. The Bridgwater office have chosen the Taunton Association for the Homeless and are asking clients and the general public to donate the following; blankets & sleeping bags (fire retardant), toiletries (shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant etc) or vouchers/cheques if easier. Naked Dollies get dressed in time for winter!
Cutcombe pre-school on Exmoor had a large number of toy dolls that over the years had lost their clothing. Sheralee Matravers who runs the pre-school contacted Caroline Harding, a Community Council for Somerset (CCS) Village Agent, who was asked to help. The Timberscombe Social Club is a group of local women and men who meet up for coffee and crafts. Caroline explained the pre-school issue to them and was inundated with offers of help. The Social Club set about designing custom-made wardrobes for the dolls and arranged to deliver them, fully dressed in their new outfits, back to the children. Full story: Read more
SOUTH WEST GREENS CYCLE TO PARIS DESPITE TERROR ATTACKS
Four green activists from South West England still plan to cycle to climate talks in Paris despite Friday’s terrorist attacks that left 129 dead and more than 350 injured. The cyclists are Euan McPhee, 68, from Falmouth, Cornwall, Roger Creagh-Osborne, 63, from Launceston, Cornwall, Ricky Knight, 66, from Barnstaple, Devon, and Ewan Jones, 45, from Bruton, Somerset. The group begin the 300-mile journey to the French capital tomorrow (Thursday 19 November), via ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo in France. Full story: Read more
