OM dairy show smallYorkshire dairy farmer Ian Collins enjoyed huge success with his Dairy Shorthorn cows at the Dairy Show this week, taking home numerous ribbons and the interbreed pairs award. Mr Collins took top honours in a number of Dairy Shorthorn classes, including the breed championship with his cow Churchroyd Heather 50. Little fright, much delight for Zero Project’s under 18’s Halloween Party

Club Neo Zero Oct A6With Halloween fast approaching, the Zero Project team have released details of their upcoming fun event for Year 9 students upwards to 17 year olds, a Halloween Party at Club Neo, Yeovil. The Halloween Party will be held on Wednesday 28 October from 7.00pm – 11.00pm, and is aimed at attracting young students from across Somerset and Dorset for an exciting and safe night out. Entry on the door is £5; however there is a new group discount initiative that has been introduced which will see groups of six or more gain admission to the event for £4 per person. Second attempt to break a world bell-ringing record at South Petherton’s parish church!

Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 13.22.46Twelve bellringers from all over the country will be revisiting St Peter & St Paul’s South Petherton on Saturday, 17th October to have another go at ringing 21,216 changes of a method known as Cambridge Surprise Maximus. If successful, the ringers will break a record set on Birmingham Cathedral’s bells nearly 50 years ago. The 12 highly experienced ringers are subject to rules laid down by the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers. Each ringer has to ring his bell for the whole time without a break.
