Sarah Villiers author of “Somerset Education” and a most delightfully entertaining speaker, will give us a talk entitled: “Tough Teachers in Tough Times: 19th century Village Schools” She will look at the difficulties and village politics which teachers found themselves embroiled in, and look at the conditions in schools as well as teaching methods, and the problems of parents! Showing how little things have changed! Sarah can answer almost any question on education, and she will jog your memories about some of the old ways of teaching (both good and bad!).
