LONGLEAT HOUSE TRANSFORMED INTO CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND
Longleat House in Wiltshire has been transformed into a festive wonderland to celebrate Christmas (Friday 13th Dec – Saturday 4th Jan excl. Christmas Day). The elegant rooms of the Elizabethan stately home have become home to a host of familiar pantomime and fairy-tale characters, all eager to welcome visitors in to their magical realms. Aladdin, complete with palm trees, lamp and flying carpet, is encamped in the Ante Library, while the Evil Queen from Snow White has taken up temporary residence in the Red Library. South Somerset pupils’ posters win food waste challenge
Primary pupils Billy Green and Harriett Elliott have proved their powers of persuasion by being picked as overall winner and a runner-up respectively in a contest to help Somerset families recycle food waste into clean green power. Billy and Harriett, both aged 9 from Preston Primary School in Yeovil, were among thousands of children from all over the county who were invited to design posters promoting recycling through Somerset’s new Anaerobic Digestion (AD) facility and its billions of “burping bacteria”.
