Oxjam Glastonbury & Street 2014 has made its final counts and smashed its target of raising over £1000. The final total is £1685.80. This total includes a cheque still to be banked for £250 from Kier Construction for matching the amount raised at Hawthorns Hotel from the performance one of their employees, Spencer Cox. This was not the only instance of matching as the amount raised by the public of £323.90 at the Bocabar and Red Brick Building was also matched by Bocabar Glastonbury. Full story: Read more
South Somerset District Council to host meeting to reassure communities on flooding
South Somerset District Council will be holding a meeting for local communities, to provide reassurance and information on flooding as the winter approaches. It is one of several district meetings being held around Somerset as part of the 20 Year Flood Action Plan, set up after the extreme floods last winter, at the Government’s request. South Somerset District Council, a partner organisation in the Flood Action Plan, is holding its district meeting on Monday 24 November 2014 at Huish Episcopi Academy 6th Form Auditorium, Wincanton Road, Langport TA10 9SS from 7:00pm – 9:00pm (arrivals from 6:30pm). Neighbourhood Plan on the cards for Frome
A further step forward has been taken in seeing the completion of a plan designed to shape Frome’s future. Frome Town Council has submitted their Neighbourhood Plan to Mendip District Council so a final stage of consultation can take place before it is examined by an independent examiner. Frome Town Council has already consulted widely on the plan with residents, businesses and a range of interest groups during the production stages and now the Local Planning Authority (in this case Mendip District Council) is legally required to publicise and consult on the produced plan, the final stage before its examination.
