OXJAM GLASTONBURY & STREET 2014 SMASHES ITS FUNDRAISING TARGET

Oxjam Glastonbury & Street 2014 has made its final counts and smashed its target of raising over £1000. The final total is £1685.80.

This total includes a cheque still to be banked for £250 from Kier Construction for matching the amount raised at Hawthorns Hotel from the performance one of their employees, Spencer Cox.

This was not the only instance of matching as the amount raised by the public of £323.90 at the Bocabar and Red Brick Building was also matched by Bocabar Glastonbury.

The rest of the money is purely from the donations of the general public and was raised by live music performances from local musicians at venues including The Market House, The George & Pilgrim, Hawthorns Hotel, La Terre, The King Arthur, The Unity Club, The Street Inn and The Red Brick Building / Bocabar. There was also a collection at the prize giving in Jaywalk Guitars.

Punters who supported three or more events could collect stamps to win prizes. They were donated by Jaywalk Guitars, Godney Gathering, Farmfest, Orchard Studios, Glastonbury Drums, BA22 Media and Glastonbury Festival.

Glastonbury Festival’s Michael Eavis came along and watched the bands at the finale in the Red Brick Building.

“We have a great and very tiring time! Everything went really well and we’ve only heard good feedback from the events. They’ve been characterised by lots of warmth, lots of generosity and fantastic music. People keep asking about next year. All we can say is, we’ll see!”  said organisers Gary Smith & Sarah Stanislaus.
