11 First Timers and 16 new Personal Bests at Yeovil Montacute Parkrun

DSC_0069This week at Yeovil Montacute parkrun there were 213 runners, of whom 11 were first timers and 16 recorded new Personal Bests. Neil Herridge was the last of the 11 first timers to finish and in doing so became the 3,000th runner to take part in Yeovil Montacute parkrun since we started in September 2013!! In the run, regular visitor Ben Fairhall of Redway Runners was first over the line – not in a course record this time, but his time of 17m 16 was a good one. Jason Scott of Crewkerne RC was second over the line in 18m 36 holding off fast finishing Stu Cobb who finished in 19m 27. Full story: Read more

Castle Cary Artist Angela Knapp to exhibit at charity land, sea & sky event

Angela Knapp and Sue Milverton with one of Angela's textile pieces - CopyWELL-KNOWN textile artist Angela Knapp from Castle Cary will be exhibiting at a charity event in aid of the National Kidney Federation early next month (December, 2015). Angela, who specialises in creating unique images of birds, will be at the award-winning Clavelshay Barn Restaurant for its Land, Sea and Sky Exhibition on Monday, December 7. She explained: “I’m delighted to have been invited to take part in this event. I will have a selection of my artwork on show and I will also be there to chat to visitors and show them how I create a piece from start to finish. Full story: Read more

Dog owners reminded to pick up after their pets this winter

Dog PooDog owners in South Somerset are being reminded pick up after their pets this winter or face the possibility of a fine. With the clocks having recently gone backwards and the darker nights now with us, patrols by enforcement officers will be stepped up across the district in a bid to catch any offenders failing to pick up after their pets. South Somerset District Council is reminding dog owners that anyone caught allowing their dog, or any dog that they are in charge of to mess in a public place, they may be issued with a fixed penalty notice for £80.
