Somerset animal sanctuary offers cookery workshops

Richard Kingdon_Ferne Animal SanctuaryFerne Animal Sanctuary in Wambrook, near Chard, Somerset are inviting everyone, whatever their ability, to come along and learn how to bake bread with their resident chef, Richard Kingdon. Participants will learn how to prepare and cook varieties including Irish soda bread, focaccia and gluten free. Chef Richard said: “I’m really looking forward to running these cookery classes. Area East Committee approves five grants at December meeting

SSDCSouth Somerset District Council’s Area East Committee approved five grants in December totalling £34,543, which were awarded to projects with an overall value of £294,424. The Area East Committee considers grant requests for capital projects twice a year in June and December. Five applications were received for the December round from Bayford Mission Hall Society, Hadspen Village Hall Committee, Wincanton Town Council, Mudford Parish Council and Kingsdon Village Shop. New Palace Pastor to provide prayers for Palace visitors and staff

Rev Anne Roberts Palace PastorThe Revd. Anne Roberts has been appointed to the newly formed role of Palace Pastor. Based at the Bishop’s Palace, Anne will offer pastoral and spiritual care to visitors, volunteers and staff. She will move from Cumbria to take up the post. She will be joined by her husband, the Venerable Kevin Roberts, Archdeacon of Carlisle, who has been appointed to the role of Director of ReSource, a Wells-based charity working to support the growth of the Church nationally.
