A rare and early Steiff Polar Bear is to be sold by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne. The toy was spotted during a routine valuation in the client’s home in West Somerset. “This Polar Bear was made by the world famous Steiff factory in around 1910,” says Lawrences’ specialist, Simon Jones. “The handsome fellow has a jointed body and black boot button eyes, and importantly the Steiff Button is still present in his ear.” Full story: Read more
Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth: 14 March 2015
Dorset borough, district and town councils are set to host ‘Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth’ event across the county on 14 March. North Dorset, West Dorset and Weymouth & Portland Councils will be hosting flag-raising events to mark the occasion alongside Blandford and Sturminster Town Councils. Dorset’s Best Village Competition 2016 – “30th Anniversary” Entry Deadline approaches
Dorset Best Village Competition entry deadline is fast approaching. Entries have to be in by 5pm on Monday 11th April. There is more than £2,000 in prize money that will be given away to winners in the available categories.
