YEOVIL’S UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES ANNIVERSARY ALUMNI

Photo 2Later this month, the University Centre Yeovil will be launching its own Alumni as part of tenth anniversary celebrations.

Since it opened in April 2004, more than 3000 people have graduated from the University Centre, boosting their career opportunities with Honours and Master’s degrees, HNC/Ds and many other professional and Higher Education qualifications.

Graduates have studied everything from Accounting to Nursing, Childcare to Engineering, Fine Art to Sports Coaching and Teaching to Horticulture, making valuable contributions to society and the economy as a result. In all, the University Centre has provided 70 different qualifications over the past decade, gradually adapting and improving the courses on offer based on feedback from students, local employers’ needs and industry demand.

Since 2004, Yeovil College has worked with universities including Bournemouth, Exeter, West of England, Gloucestershire and University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) to provide valuable, work-relevant courses, ensuring graduates have every opportunity to achieve their career and personal goals.

Dr Paul Bailey, Director of Higher Education at Yeovil College, said “In a way, the University Centre Yeovil has been a victim of its own, or rather its students’, success. Having gained one or more qualifications with us, our graduates can spread their wings and seize greater opportunities, often leading to new jobs and even new towns, cities or countries. Until now, we’ve made it too easy for them to lose touch with us and each other and, having reached our tenth year, we’ve decided that the time is right to change this. Our students feel a fantastic sense of community while studying here and we want to extend that so past, present and future students all feel part of a wider University Centre Yeovil family, able to share memories, experiences and opportunities with each other in years to come.”

Photo 1In coming weeks, the University Centre Yeovil will be launching a new and exclusive Alumni Facebook page, where students can share information, get in touch with lost friends and revisit key moments from the past ten years through photographs and online articles. Alumni will also be able to link with the Centre through a brand new Twitter feed, @UCY_Alumni, as well as new pages on the University Centre website.
