Local honey will be for sale from West Moors-based Beeline Honey and the East Dorset Bee Keeping Association. Gold and Black Candles will be showing their range of 100% beeswax candles with natural wicks, and a selection of bee-friendly flowering perennials will be available at discounted prices.

As well as enjoying the produce of our honey bees this special event will also introduce you to all the other bees that can be found in your garden. Expert guided walks and talks will help you to identify some of the 24 species of bumblebee, and spot some of the 225 species of solitary bee that live in the UK and play a vital role in pollinating our plants.

Other attractions include the opportunity to make your own candles and bee houses to take home, explore the workings of a virtual hive, see a collection of specimen bees, and meet up with bee experts from Dorset Wildlife Trust, Friends of the Earth and the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust.

With a prize raffle featuring the opportunity to win half a day with a bee keeper courtesy of Filberts Bees, all day refreshments and a bee fact and children’s trail, Beautiful Bees and Glorious Gardens takes place on 16th August from 10am – 4pm at Knoll Gardens near Wimborne.
