Vote for your young volunteer champion

Residents in West Dorset are being asked to nomiWDDCnate young volunteers for a special award.
The Chairman’s Awards: Young Volunteer Champions 2013 is an award to celebrate the work of the young people who have given up their spare time in the West Dorset area.
The awards are run by West Dorset District Council and aim to recognise the unpaid voluntary work done by young people and youth groups.

 

Nominations are open from now until Friday 15 February 2013 and the categories for nomination are:
  • Junior Young Champion – an individual 12 years or under
  • Young Community Champion – an individual aged 13 – 18 years
  • Senior Young Champion – an individual aged 19 – 25 years
  • Youth Group Champion – any young people’s voluntary or community group
The award ceremony will be held at South Walks House, Dorchester on Friday 15 March 2013 where each young champion winner will receive a small cash prize and a framed certificate.
Nomination forms are available at West Dorset District Council’s main offices, tourist information centres in West Dorset, town council offices and www.dorsetforyou.com/youngchampion

Gillian Summers, West Dorset District Council Chairman said: “This is an opportunity to nominate a young person or youth group who has really made a difference to their community and to celebrate all the work that they have done. Volunteering is such a beneficial thing to do. It can lead to all sorts of opportunities including employment.

“If there is a young person or community group who voluntarily gives up their time and really makes a difference, then please nominate them for a Young Volunteer Champions award.”
