STUDENT WINS COMMUNITY RADIO LOGO COMPETITION

Oliver photoYeovil College student Oliver Gear has won a competition to design a logo for Radio Ninesprings, Yeovil’s new community radio station. Through a grant from Somerset County Council’s Creative Industries Development Fund, Radio Ninesprings Project Manager, Steve Haigh, worked with Yeovil College students, providing talks on various broadcasting topics and giving them the opportunity to design the station’s new logo and branding. FORMER FASHION STUDENTS GET TEETH INTO WOLF HALL

Photo 4A group of former Yeovil College students have worked on costumes for the forthcoming BBC adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s prize winning novel Wolf Hall. The highly anticipated series presents an intimate portrait of Thomas Cromwell and his rise to power. From humble beginnings as a brewer’s son in Putney to principal advisor to Henry VIII, Cromwell develops into a pragmatic and accomplished power broker capable of navigating the corridors of power and deadly political intrigue. Full story: Read more

Yeovil College students tune-in to Literary Festival…

Yeovil College StudentsMedia students from Yeovil College have helped to record a radio outside broadcast at Yeovil Literary Festival. The broadcast was organised by Radio Ninesprings – the new community radio station for Yeovil – as part of a creative industries training project funded by Somerset County Council. The students helped to set-up microphones, mix sound and edit the recordings made of guest speakers at events at the Octagon theatre and Yeovil Library. Full story: Read more
