Festive Music and Carols Among the Christmas Trees in Glastonbury

GMVC Formal pubGlastonbury Male Voice Choir is busy rehearsing a full programme of Christmas music ready for the Christmas Concert & Carols at St John’s Church Glastonbury on Wednesday 16th December at 8.00pm. This has become a very popular sell out occasion in Glastonbury as it combines an opportunity to be entertained by the choir signing some wonderful Christmas music with carols for the whole congregation. St John’s Churchyard brightened up with yarn bombing display

Yarn bombing 2Street furniture and trees in St John’s Churchyard, Yeovil, was brightened up by volunteers and staff from South Somerset District Council on Tuesday 2 June when a form of street art called yarn bombing took place. The street art, which is environmentally friendly, started after the great bulb giveaway and will stay up for as long as possible over the summer. Residents are invited to add to the collection. Yarn bombing employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk, which can be easily removed at the end of the display with no damage. Residents turn out in force for free bulbs

Bulb Giveaway 1Residents turned out in force on Tuesday morning (2 June) for the great bulb giveaway, where between 8,000 – 10,000 tulip bulbs were given away free by South Somerset District Council. The event, held annually at St John’s Church Yard in Yeovil, was well attended and queues started forming from 8.30am. Bulbs were started to be given away from 9am due to the large queues that formed. This year, demand for the bulbs at the giveaway outstripped the supply. Full story: Read more
