Council Officer receives special thanks from West & Middle Chinnock Parish Council for years of hard work

David Shears Presentation 2 16-10-15West & Middle Chinnock Parish Council gave a special presentation of thanks to South Somerset District Council’s (SSDC) Senior Land Records & Research Officer, after several years’ hard work resolving a land ownership issue in the Parish. Neil Cochran from West & Middle Chinnock Parish Council presented David Shears with a special glass plaque memento, a certificate and a cheque for David’s favourite charity (Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust) at the Council Offices. Dog owners reminded to pick up after their pets this winter

Dog PooDog owners in South Somerset are being reminded pick up after their pets this winter or face the possibility of a fine. With the clocks having recently gone backwards and the darker nights now with us, patrols by enforcement officers will be stepped up across the district in a bid to catch any offenders failing to pick up after their pets. South Somerset District Council is reminding dog owners that anyone caught allowing their dog, or any dog that they are in charge of to mess in a public place, they may be issued with a fixed penalty notice for £80. Let’s celebrate local government together! South Somerset District Council is taking part in #OurDay

Screen-Shot-2014-06-09-at-14.47.56From collecting waste to animal welfare, and school places to trading standards, the hundreds of vital local services of a council will be brought to life in 140 characters when councillors and staff from South Somerset District Council take part in a tweetathon on Wednesday 18 November. They will be among thousands nationwide to tweet using the hashtag #OurDay, to give residents an insight into the hundreds of jobs councils do every day.
