This February half term, South Somerset District Council’s Countryside Rangers have created a bird trail that will test your bird identification skills as you follow the self-led trail into the woods of Ninesprings. At different points along the route you will have to look up high to find the hidden birds that the rangers have positioned up in the trees. Plant a tree for Christmas
Residents of South Somerset are invited to join the Countryside Rangers this coming weekend and plant a tree at Ham Hill Country Park for Christmas. The Ranger team at South Somerset District Council’s Ham Hill Country Park recently received a free tree pack from the Woodland Trust to plant in Pit Wood, which form part of the Country Park site. Kingsbury Episcopi receives £802,128 from The Big Lottery for new Community Centre
The village of Kingsbury Episcopi has received a large Lottery grant for an ambitious project to build a new community centre and South Somerset District Council is also supporting the project with a grant of £40,000. A massive £185,000 has already been raised within the community and £773,128 has now been awarded by the Big Lottery Reaching CommunitiesBuildings Fund. The project will provide a village hall and a permanent home for Kingsbury’s busy community shop – now run in a shipping container – plus a café and sports changing facilities. Full story: Read more
