Plant a tree for Christmas

Pit Wood Tree Planting 2015Residents of South Somerset are invited to join the Countryside Rangers this coming weekend and plant a tree at Ham Hill Country Park for Christmas. The Ranger team at South Somerset District Council’s Ham Hill Country Park recently received a free tree pack from the Woodland Trust to plant in Pit Wood, which form part of the Country Park site. Kingsbury Episcopi receives £802,128 from The Big Lottery for new Community Centre

KE Artists impression 2The village of Kingsbury Episcopi has received a large Lottery grant for an ambitious project to build a new community centre and South Somerset District Council is also supporting the project with a grant of £40,000. A massive £185,000 has already been raised within the community and £773,128 has now been awarded by the Big Lottery Reaching CommunitiesBuildings Fund. The project will provide a village hall and a permanent home for Kingsbury’s busy community shop – now run in a shipping container – plus a café and sports changing facilities.
