A newly formed community group in Castle Cary has benefited from a South Somerset District Council (SSDC) grant of £5,800 towards the purchase of a community garden. The Moat Garden Project registered with the Charity Commission in October last year, with a view to raising the funds needed to purchase an amenity space and preserve it for the community into the future. Launch of new Ham Hill Geology Trail
Just in time for bright autumn days South Somerset District Council is delighted to announce the launch of the new Ham Hill Geology Trail. Created in memory of Hugh Prudden – well-known local geologist, teacher and founding Chairman of the Friends of Ham Hill – this self-guided trail has been developed for visitors to follow two short walking routes around some of the most interesting locations on the hill, exploring the unique features of Hamstone. Plan now for casting your historic vote on June 23!
Voters in South Somerset who are intending to vote at a polling station on Thursday 23 June are being advised to plan when and where they will cast their vote on polling day. Recent research carried out for the Electoral Commission found that 35% of voters hadn’t yet planned what time they would be voting and the Commission is recommending that everyone makes sure they plan when to vote so they don’t miss out on the day.
