The excitement is pumping for brand new cycle facility

pump5Young cyclists were hurtling round corners with huge smiles on their faces when a new ‘Pump Track’ officially opened in Yeovil on Wednesday 30 September. The project, which has been led by South Somerset District Council, followed consultation during the summer which highlighted a lot of enthusiasm for local cycling facilities. It is hoped that the track – which is located near Wyndham Park in Yeovil – will be the start of more cycling facilities in South Somerset. Full Story: Read more

Levels & Moors brochure to boost local tourism

SSDC_DiscoverLevels_COVERA fold-out brochure complete with map, beautiful photographs and information about the landscape and communities of the Somerset Levels, has been updated and reissued by South Somerset District Council. The aim is to attract new visitors to discover the countryside and wildlife, heritage and traditional crafts of the area. The revised brochure has been made possible by funding which was allocated by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, to provide a boost for the recovery of tourism after the devastating effects of winter flooding in 2013-2014 which continued to have an impact into a second year. Super Saturday sensation comes to Yeovil Town Centre on 26 September

Screen Shot 2015-09-22 at 10.32.02Yeovil’s Super Saturday comes to Yeovil Town Centre on 26 September, bringing live music, market stalls and plenty of fun activities for children. South Somerset District Council and Yeovil Town Council have seized the opportunity to collaborate on the organisation of exciting events in Yeovil Town Centre. Super Saturday kicks off at 10am and will finish at 4pm. There will be a flower and gardeners market which will be complemented by the monthly farmer’s market at nearby Middle Street.
