The successful redevelopment of Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury has been recognised with two awards. The Museum re-opened in June 2017 following extensive redevelopment led by the South West Heritage Trust. The project included the conservation and adaptation of the buildings, the creation of a new Community Learning Space and the redisplay of the galleries to tell the story of Somerset’s rich rural past. Thanks to the support of South Somerset District Council’s Arts Development Service, Tea Room Arts in South Cadbury will be the recipient of almost £10,000 of lottery funding from Awards for All. The lottery funding will help to deliver a project that will celebrate community spirit in the Vale of Camelot. Full story: Read more
Chard Countryside Day at the beginning of September was a roaring success with over 250 visitors enjoying free activities including fire lighting, clay modelling, pond dipping and toasting marshmallows. The pond dipping was very successful, with over 50 sticklebacks caught, plenty of lesser water boatman, some whirligig beetles and even a water scorpion. Full story: Read more
