Yeovil’s Air Raid Patrol Wardens – Can you help identify them?

Yeovil ARP WardensSouth Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) in Yeovil are pleased to receive a donation of a photograph of Air Raid Patrol (ARP) Wardens in the town during World War II, donated by one of the people pictured in it. Previously, the centre only held one photograph of an individual ARP warden in Yeovil, so this photograph starts to fill a considerable gap in the collection and helps piece together Yeovil’s history during World War II. Richard Huish College is on hand to help during National Apprenticeship Week. The Richard Huish College Apprenticeship team will be on hand to give advice about Apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week, Monday 9th March to Friday 13th March. This academic year Huish will have worked with 470 apprentices and more than 200 employers in Somerset and neighbouring parts of Devon including Nuffield Health, Musgrove Park Hospital, WPA, AC Mole & Sons, B.J.Dixon Walsh, Vapormatt and Viridor. 20 first timers and 24 new Personal Bests at Yeovil Montacute Parkrun

DSC_0021There was another good turn out this week at the Yeovil Montacute parkrun, where there were 164 runners (it did look like more!), of whom 20 were first timers and 24 recorded new Personal Bests. Before starting there was a presentation to Scarlett Sayfritz for getting the Sweatshop parkrunner of the month award for January – her new pair of shoes didn’t quite carry her to a new PB this week! In the run there was a dominant performance from Mike Biss of Wells City Harriers who led from start to finish to finish first over the line in 18m30. Full story: Read more
