Gardeners recreate Jekyll planting scheme for Victorian Terrace

IMG_3504The gardeners at Hestercombe have been busily emptying one of the flower beds around the balustrade of the Victorian Terrace, but don’t panic, it’s all to ensure the original planting schemes designed by Gertrude Jekyll, are followed. The plants that have been taken out are a mix of fuchsias, penstemon and roses, which were planted in the 1970s by Somerset County Council. Police join the Shape Mendip public services hub in Shepton Mallet

Police at Shape GPMunns15Avon and Somerset police are the latest public sector partner to move to the Shape Mendip public services hub in Shepton Mallet. Approximately 15 police staff are now based at the hub, joining other leading public service providers such as Mendip District Council, Somerset County Council, Shepton Mallet Town Council, Capita and The Landscape Group. More public service providers are expected to relocate to the hub in the coming months. Yeovil College students tune-in to Literary Festival…

Yeovil College StudentsMedia students from Yeovil College have helped to record a radio outside broadcast at Yeovil Literary Festival. The broadcast was organised by Radio Ninesprings – the new community radio station for Yeovil – as part of a creative industries training project funded by Somerset County Council. The students helped to set-up microphones, mix sound and edit the recordings made of guest speakers at events at the Octagon theatre and Yeovil Library. Full story: Read more
