Charities join forces to give young people an amazing wild experience in the New Forest

Two charities have announced their intention to create a unique residential educational facility in a derelict cottage deep within the RSPB’s new Franchises Lodge nature reserve in the New Forest National Park. The centre will provide a base from which small groups of young people will be able to have exceptional, immersive experiences in nature, and will be called ‘Cameron’s Cottage’ in memory Cameron Bespolka who died in a tragic accident, aged just 16. RSPB flies into Knoll Gardens


The RSPB will be bringing its expertise and advice to Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens for a special Open Day on Friday 28 April. From 8am the RSPB will lead an early morning guided stroll. Timed to take place before the gardens open to the public, the tranquil surroundings provide the perfect setting to listen as Knoll’s many birds greet the new day with their song. Big Bird Watch 0116Here at Hestercombe we work hard at maintaining our beautiful gardens and attracting wildlife. And with the RSPB 2016 Big Garden Birdwatch taking place across the weekend of January 30-31, we hope our visitors will help us spot the birds in the gardens and let the RSPB know about your findings. The Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest wildlife survey and the results that members of the public submit are vital in helping conservationists target their efforts towards the vulnerable wildlife that is counting on us for its survival.
