Mendip pledges to take a tough stance on smoking

Mendip District CouncilMendip District Council has underlined its commitment to protect local communities from the harm caused by smoking by signing up to the Local Government Declaration on Tobacco Control. The declaration, which has been signed by many other local councils throughout the country, recognises the enormous damage smoking does to communities and pledges that the council will work alongside other local authorities to tackle smoking through the work of the Somerset Health and Wellbeing Board. Mendip trials new national initiative to tackle anti-social behaviour

Mendip District CouncilThe trial of a new national initiative aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour is to be launched in Mendip next week. Mendip joins several other areas around the country in piloting the Community Trigger scheme, before it is rolled out nationally. A chance to shape your neighbourhood

Mendip District CouncilA consultation is being held in Mendip to allow residents of Shepton Mallet to have their say on the boundary of the new Neighbourhood Plan, which is being prepared by the town council. The Localism Act 2011 introduced new rights and powers for communities to shape new development by preparing Neighbourhood Plans for their areas.
