South Somerset District Council says thank you to its volunteers

Volunteer 3With National Volunteers’ Week taking place this week (1st – 7th June), South Somerset District Council wanted to thank all those residents who volunteer or are part of Friends groups with Council services. Volunteers in South Somerset help to maintain the wonderful award winning Countryside sites across the district; help to ensure artefacts at the Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) are kept in a good condition for other visitors and also help you to your seats at Somerset’s premier theatre, the Octagon Theatre. Help identify First World War Memorial soldier

T Thorne First World War SoliderSouth Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) are asking for your help to identify a First World War solider whose name appears on Yeovil’s War Memorial. T Thorne died in the First World War but has never been positively identified. Staff from CHAC are hoping that someone may remember his family or may have heard of him and will come forward to give information needed to identify him and enable him to be properly remembered.
