CrowdWOMEN in Sherborne are being urged to grab their last chance to enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at Sherborne Castle as there are just two weeks left until registration closes. An incredible number of women have already joined a ‘pink army’ ready to take on cancer on Sunday 21 June, but there are still places left. Entry closes on Friday June 19 and organisers are encouraging mums, daughters, grannies, sisters, friends and workmates who want to take part in the 5k women-only event to sign up as soon possible at raceforlife.org. PENSIONERS SEVEN TIMES MORE LIKELY TO GET DEADLY SKIN CANCER THAN 40 YEARS AGO

Cancer Research UKPEOPLE in the South West are being urged to enjoy the sun safely this summer, following striking new skin cancer figures released by Cancer Research UK today (Monday). According to the charity, people over 65 in Great Britain are around seven times more likely to develop malignant melanoma compared to 40 years ago.* The most recent figures show that on average around 5,700 pensioners are now diagnosed with melanoma each year compared with just 600 in the mid 1970s.** Full story: Read more
