State of the art gym equipment installed at Oxley Sports Centre, Sherborne

A brand new interactive range of gym equipment, costing more than £120,000, has been installed at Oxley in Sherborne, as part of the sports centres 2013 development plans.

The new equipment includes the latest Techonogym Cardio Kit, a Watt bike, extensive range of free weights, a half rack and a Kinesis Machine, which provides a unique workout that restores the right balance between mind and body. The fitness suite now has the internet enabling users to log details into the machines, track progress and interact with other members.

Samantha Hetreed, centre manager at Oxley, comments: “This in a huge investment for Oxley and we’re really proud of the new equipment. Our gym is now one of the most technologically advanced in the area; members can create profiles on the machines and track progress for those who have set fitness goals, they can also link into iTunes, watch TV and peruse the internet through the new displays units on each piece of equipment. All our staff members have been trained to use the new equipment so they can guide users and enable exercisers to get the best results.”

The sports centre, which opened in 2007 and is used by public, members, Sherborne Girls and other local schools, has grown year-on-year since it opened and now offers a range of activities from studio cycling, swimming and aerobics to kayaking, sports massage, bokwa and zumba.

The development plans for Oxley Sports Centre also include new changing rooms which are currently being installed and will open in December. There are temporary changing rooms for guests to use in the interim.
