South Somerset District Council launch Facebook page

SSDCFacebook page launched to keep even more residents up to date with the latest news from South Somerset District Council

South Somerset District Council has launched its very own Facebook page to keep more residents up to date with the latest news via social networking.

www.facebook.com/SouthSomersetDistrictCouncil was launched at the end of July and has already gone on to have over 300 ‘Likes’. Liking a page on Facebook effectively means you sign up to receive posts in your own news feed from the page owner.

The newly created page is intended to keep residents up to date with the latest news, events and job opportunities from South Somerset District Council as well as providing useful information about council services.

Councillor Ric Pallister, Leader of South Somerset District Council said, “Our communications team have recognised that we are missing a trick and can reach many more residents if we have a corporate Facebook page, so the page was created with communicating, informing and reaching more residents very much in mind. It joins our corporate Twitter account which has been running successfully for many years as a method to communicate with residents, for free”.

You can view the South Somerset District Council Facebook page by searching ‘South Somerset District Council’ on Facebook or by visiting www.facebook.com/SouthSomersetDistrictCouncil. Don’t forget to ‘Like’ the page to receive the latest news. You can also ‘Follow’ South Somerset District Council on Twitter at @southsomersetdc or by visiting www.twitter.com/southsomersetdc.

@southsomersetdc has successfully been running on Twitter since July 2012 and now has over 3,100 followers. It’s hoped the new Facebook page has similar successes in terms of numbers of people receiving news direct to their social media news feed from South Somerset District Council.
