Residents’ newsletter to be delivered online this June

SSDCSouth Somerset News, the residents’ newsletter from South Somerset District Council (SSDC), is to become an online-only publication.

A small number of printed copies will be available and on display at local council offices throughout the district.

Residents can view the latest newsletter online at www.southsomerset.gov.uk/latest-news. The newsletter is published every June and November.

Publication is due on Monday 29th June. Residents who prefer a paper copy can pick this up at these offices:

  • Chard – Lace Mill Council Offices, Holyrood Street
  • Yeovil – Brympton Way Council Offices, Brympton Way; Petters House, Petters Way
  • Wincanton – Churchfields Office, Churchfield
  • Crewkerne – Community Office, Market Square
  • Langport – Community Office, Bow Street
  • Ilminster – Community Office, North Street

The delivery of the newsletter online will be trialled for one year initially.

Martin Hacker, Communications Officer at South Somerset District Council said, “We still want to deliver the latest news, events and information to residents in a newsletter but we need to achieve this in the most cost effective way. We will trial this option for a year to see if residents either miss the newsletter or readership is not as high as expected and will make a decision whether to continue with this method in the future.”

The latest South Somerset News will include a guide to new Members of South Somerset District Council elected on 7 May plus news of the Playday events coming to a community near you this summer.

The District Council welcomes feedback from the public on the decision to deliver South Somerset News in an online format only.
