Register to vote in county council elections

With the Somerset County Council electSSDCions just around the corner, elections staff at South Somerset District Council are urging residents to act now to make sure they can vote.

The county council elections take place on Thursday 2nd May, and local people need to make sure they have registered to vote by 17th April to ensure they can have their say at the ballot box.

Ian Clarke, South Somerset District Council Returning Officer and Electoral Registration Officer, said: “We are urging anyone who has yet to register to vote to make sure they get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“The county elections are now just a few weeks away, but if you haven’t registered to vote by 17th April it’ll be too late.

“We are also reminding anyone who has moved house in the past few months that they will need to register with their new address.”
