Profiting from Awards

image001The prestigious Somerset Business Awards annually encourage businesses in Somerset to shout about why their business is so fantastic. And now the organisers, sponsors and previous winners want to pass on their hot tips for entering the Awards.

On Tuesday 30 July, a breakfast seminar – Profiting from Awards – will take place, to encourage, inform and empower local businesses thinking about entering the Awards. It will give delegates the chance to ask the 2013 judges what they are looking for and hear from previous winners about how winning a Somerset Business Award has improved their businesses – from both a financial and reputational perspective.

Winner of the New to Somerset ASomerset Business Awards 2013ward last year, George Bannister from Blackdown Shepherd Huts, will explain the success of his business since its Somerset Business Award win in 2012. George says, “The Award win gave us so many new opportunities for work and partnerships, which has had a hugely positive impact on our sales figures. I’d encourage anyone unsure about entering to just do it! We learnt so much about our business during the Awards process and the recognition we have received since winning has been unimaginable.”

Main sponsor for the Somerset Business Awards, Albert Goodman, is supporting the Awards for the third consecutive year. Partner and Head of Family Business, Paul Hake, comments, “The Somerset Business Awards are becoming increasingly more competitive and standards are rising year on year, making it an even more prestigious accolade to win. The breakfast workshops will provide businesses with vital inside information about what we, as judges, look for when assessing entrants. The seminar will help businesses showcase the great things within their company and place them in the best position to submit a winning application.”

The breakfast workshop will take place at Monkton Elm Garden Centre – winner of the Albert Goodman Family Business of the Year in 2012 – from 7.45am. For more information and to book your place, please visit: http://www.somerset-chamber.co.uk/events/somerset-chamber/profiting-from-awards–904.htm
