Conservationists are undertaking a 10-year project to excavate and survey 18 of the oldest churches in Somerset. Work at church number one – St Andrew’s in Holcombe – has recently ended with 18th Century skeletons, artefacts and medieval pottery being discovered. Langport welcomes the largest Multi Use Games Area in South Somerset
Following years of hard work and fundraising the community of Langport was delighted to see the opening ribbon cut on an exciting new £130,000 Multi Use Games Area on Easter Sunday. The Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), which includes floodlit facilities and markings for a full size netball court, five-a-side football pitch, two tennis courts, cricket practice and a basketball court, has been led by Langport & Huish Memorial Field Management Committee together with the support of South Somerset District Council’s Play & Youth Facilities Team. Charity lunch in aid of the RBL and Care 4 Casualities, 9th June
A charity lunch in aid of the RBL and Care 4 Causalities (The local Rifles Regimental Charity) will take place at The Three Horseshoes Inn at Batcombe on 9th June. It will be a Sunday roast and pudding. The cost will be £15 per head ( £10 for under 10s). Through the generosity of the landlord, Kav, we will be able to recover £10 from each adult ticket for the two nominated charities above.
