The Octagon Theatre has received £36,900 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting new project, The Octagon Archive, which will aim to generate an archive for The Octagon Theatre and it’s antecedents following the venue celebrating its 40th Over its 40 year history there has never been an archive of the venues that preceded The Octagon Theatre or of its professional and amateur entertainment history. Mendip Council to establish its own housing company
In the face of ever-decreasing funding from central government, Mendip District Council has taken the groundbreaking decision to set up its own housing company to generate additional income. With the annual financial settlement from central government expected to be completely removed by 2020, councils around the country are having to come up with new and innovative solutions to generate funding. Somerset Tourism Literature Exchange
Over 40 tourist attractions will gather at South Somerset District Council’s free tourism literature exchange on Tuesday 17 March. The event which is hosted by SSDC’s Economic Development Team will take place at Haynes International Motor Museum between 10am and 12:30pm. If you run a pub, café, restaurant, accommodation or Tourist Information service, come along to the Literature Exchange and collect supplies of tourist attraction leaflets to give to your visitors.
