Ston Easton Park don’t believe that Easter is just for kids. They think that adults and their four legged friends deserve to join in the fun too, and are hosting a special event this Easter Sunday for dogs and their owners, in the grounds of the stunning Victorian manor house. The event, entitled “Oscars Easter Eggs-Travaganza” will see hundreds of perky pooches take to the gardens and grounds at Ston Easton in Somerset’s biggest doggy treasure hunt. As well as the walk of a lifetime, lucky Labradors and blessed Beagles will be able to nose out their very own Easter ‘eggs’, in the form of tasty (and healthy) dog treats dotted around the walk. BLACKMORE VALE LIONS SWIMARATHON GREAT SUCCESS
The Blackmore Vale Lions organised another successful charity fundraising event on the weekend of the 7th and 8th March. The 28th Swimarathon was held once again at Clayesmore School Sports Centre and 156 swimmers of all ages took part. They made up 27 teams (nominally six to a team) who swam in relay for 55 minutes achieving a total distance of 82 kilometres. Full story: Read more
815 Naval Air Squadron from RNAS Yeovilton help Ham Hill Rangers on Commonwealth Day
A job that would have taken South Somerset District Council’s Countryside team almost a month to complete took just a day when personnel from 815 Naval Air Squadron at Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton volunteered to help. 42 personnel from 815 Squadron helped Rangers at Ham Hill on Commonwealth Day, Monday 9 March 2015. They were tasked with removing 40 metres of dry stone walling on the flat fields at Ham Hill and digging some of the earth that had been moved against the wall over the years which had now started to threaten the walls stability.
