Glastonbury Male Voice Choir is busy rehearsing a full programme of Christmas music ready for the Christmas Concert & Carols at St John’s Church Glastonbury on Wednesday 16th December at 8.00pm. This has become a very popular sell out occasion in Glastonbury as it combines an opportunity to be entertained by the choir signing some wonderful Christmas music with carols for the whole congregation. Help for hedgehogs at Knoll Gardens
The declining UK hedgehog population was highlighted at a special Wild About Gardens event at Knoll Gardens near Wimborne recently as part of a Knoll Gardens Foundation initiative to explain how we can all share our gardens with wildlife. Visitors were able to handle hedgehogs and learn about these prickly creatures from Dorset Wildlife Trust officers, and get advice on ways to create suitable hedgehog habitats and ‘wildlife corridors’ to encourage hedgehogs into our gardens. Kingsbury Episcopi receives £802,128 from The Big Lottery for new Community Centre
The village of Kingsbury Episcopi has received a large Lottery grant for an ambitious project to build a new community centre and South Somerset District Council is also supporting the project with a grant of £40,000. A massive £185,000 has already been raised within the community and £773,128 has now been awarded by the Big Lottery Reaching CommunitiesBuildings Fund. The project will provide a village hall and a permanent home for Kingsbury’s busy community shop – now run in a shipping container – plus a café and sports changing facilities. Full story: Read more
