Life in Taunton, its people and places, are captured in time for an exhibition of watercolours opening at The Museum of Somerset on Saturday 19 March. Harry Frier (1849–1921) is one of Somerset‘s best known artists. His paintings document life in and around Taunton during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Frier moved to Somerset in 1883 and began painting watercolours of local scenes. He was a prolific worker and at least 600 of his paintings survive. Full story: Read more
Poundbury Gardens supports green shoots at The Grove Pre-School Playgroup
As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Poundbury Gardens has donated 10% of its takings from Friday 4 March to The Grove Pre-School Playgroup in Dorchester, which offers children a safe and stimulating environment to learn, with a particular emphasis on gardening, growing and wildlife. Dorset’s Largest Spring Plant Fair at Mapperton – 10th April
On Sunday 10th April Mapperton House, near Beaminster hosts, for the 17th year, the largest Charity Specialist Plant Fair in Dorset with 30 nurseries and garden related stands exhibiting. These sales are a ‘must’ for keen gardeners and with specialist nurseries attending from throughout the South of England have proved very popular over the years for both the nurseries as well as the general public.
