The vivid orange Scarce Chaser dragonfly, Libellula fulva has been sighted in Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens. This is the first recorded sighting of the year in Dorset and south Hampshire of this distinctive dragonfly which was last spotted at Knoll in 2012. Full story: Read more
Dogs die in hot cars; don’t leave your dog alone in a car
Following on from a successful campaign last year, Chard Resident, Judy Gray, has once more enlisted the support of District Councillor Amanda Broom in raising awareness of dogs being left in hot cars. This year, with the full support of South Somerset District Council, other District Councils have also been asked to support as the message is spread further afield. LYNX’S AIR DAY FAREWELL FINALE
RNAS Yeovilton Air Day 2016 will be the public’s last opportunity to see the Westland built Lynx maritime attack helicopters in action at their home event. The show’s Lynx Farewell salute includes two special flying items: an emotive formation flypast and one last Maritime Role Demo. Joining them in Air Day’s five hour flying display will be small ships’ helicopters past and present, depicting three generations of rotary capability at sea. Full story: Read more
