Mendip District Council is stepping up its efforts to bring the area’s empty homes back into use by launching a new strategy to tackle the problem. The three-year strategy, which was agreed at a meeting of the Council’s Cabinet on Monday (11th March), sets out how the council will bring empty properties back into use to provide decent and affordable accommodation, mainly in the private rented sector. Three wheelbarrows, 60 miles, two days, two bulls and a lot of mud!
To celebrate Garden Re-leaf Day 2013, staff members from The Gardens Group and volunteers last week completed The Big Push. From Sherborne to Poundbury, Poundbury to Yeovil and Yeovil to Sherborne, each team pushed a brightly coloured wheelbarrow to raise money for Greenfingers, a small charity which is dedicated to creating magical gardens for children’s hospices around the UK.
