Saturday shopping in Yeovil had a distinctly sporting theme when the free Join In Local Sport event came to the Quedam Shopping Centre on Saturday 27 July. The event, which was co-ordinated by South Somerset District Council, brought 15 different sports to the shopping centre so that shoppers were able to try out new sports in between shopping. Oxley supports local swimmers in championships
Adele Parham and Philippa O’Grady, who have been training at Oxley Sports Centre in Sherborne, both won medals in the British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group swimming Championships 2013. Adele, who is in the 45-49 age group, won Silver in the 1500m F/S and Bronze in the 400m Individual Medley, whilst Philippa, who competed in the 40-44 age group, picked up a Silver medal in the 200m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley and Bronze in the 100m Butterfly.
