Entries for the 2016 Mendip Business Awards opened at noon yesterday.
From this week local business owners can enter their business into one of ten categories to be in with a chance of winning at the second annual Mendip Business Awards. The winners will be announced during the evening celebrations at the Royal Bath & West Showground on Friday 3 June.
This year features several new awards within the ten categories open to local businesses, including Business Personality of the Year and Family Business of the Year among others. Key sponsors Capita, The Royal Bath & West Society and Mendip District Council, with support from the Mid Somerset Series, the Frome Standard and local Chambers of Commerce, were also keen to get behind the awards once again.
Cllr Tom Killen, Deputy Leader of Mendip District Council said “The 2015 Awards strongly demonstrates the wealth of local talent in our business community, and the judging panel was delighted with the quality of entries and winners last year. We are particularly keen to hear from smaller businesses who often do not get the recognition which they deserve. The Mendip awards are specifically aimed at supporting and showcasing excellence in local enterprise, and companies of all sizes and industries are encouraged to get involved.”
Following their success last year, Leona McDonald from Marston Foods, 2015 Business of the Year and Customer Service Excellence Award winner, said that; “The business awards had highlighted our success to help us gain new contacts and potential future business.”
Winning has also had a positive impact on recruitment for the Frome-based company as they had also been approached by more people looking for a good local employer.
Pandora Jacobs of Limitless, Small Business of the Year winners, also touched on the benefits of entering and said that, “Winning an award gives our customer’s greater confidence in the business”.
